Once the light goes out you must enter the 4 digit code again. When the door closes you can re-open it while the light is still on in the keypad by pressing any key. Note: while the opener is working you can touch any key on the keypad to stop/reverse it. Works with most major brands: Compatible with Chamberlain, LiftMaster and Craftsman garage door openers from 1993 to. Enter desired 4 digit code on the keypad. To program the following is the easy procedure Just open the small rectangular plastic plate on the panel where the battery is located, move switch to "program". It is very easy while working with the panel to accidentally push the large button on the panel and operate the door opener! The door might strike you or someone else. The reason to unplug the opener is probably a safety concern. What is being programmed is the circuit board in that panel NOT the opener as is done with wireless remotes for your cars or wireless keypads. In fact, if you unplug the battery the circuit board in the panel has no power and cannot be programmed. Make sure you have a fresh battery! There should be no need to disconnect the battery or unplug the opener. When the battery dies the code is lost and needs to be reset. Have had it for 25 years since it came with a 1994 Craftsman opener. The Keypad is wired to the indoor panel and the panel is wired in turn to the opener. I have the same keypad outside the garage and a panel with large rectangular pushbutton inside. The button pad that the keypad is wired to does have a PROGRAM/OPERATE switch under the nameplate. Should I instead have remove the battery at this point? So when it said to unplug the opener from the electrical outlet, I instead removed the wires from the button pad opener to the actual opener in the garage ceiling. I followed this, although the button pad is wired with a battery. Slide the switch back to operate and plug the garage door opener back in. The keypad does NOT have an ENTER key, but it has '*' and '#' buttons, in addition to the 0-9 numbers. The keypad itself is Liftmaster, but the unit itself and wired openers (the button pads to open/close it) are Sears craftsman model 139.53425SRT. No problems with this until recently the external keypad stopped working. You can also mount the keyless entry on a small piece of wood.We moved into this house about 15 months ago. Either use the different PIN or replace the keyless entry.Ī temporary PIN has expired: A temporary PIN will no longer open the door once it expires, however, it can still be used to close the door. If it works, one of the numbers in the old PIN may have stopped functioning. Try to program a completely different PIN. Issue with a button on the keypad On a keyless entry, it is possible a button on the keypad is not working. Keep in mind, you will need to program any remotes that are currently programmed to your opener. See How to add, program or change a Keyless Entry PIN (Video) If reprogramming does not help, clear the memory of the opener and try to reprogram again. Needs to be reprogrammed after replacing the battery, you may need to reprogram your keyless entry. Most of the keyless entries use a 9-volt battery. If the battery has already been replaced, the problem may be a failure with the keyless entry or the receiver logic board. The most common cause of failure in a keyless entry is a depleted battery. The wireless keyless entry and wired door control operate independently, so it is not uncommon for one device to work while the other does not. Your garage door opener is equipped with an integrated receiver logic board that "talks" to your keyless entry wirelessly, whereas your wall-mounted door control panel is hard-wired.
